BULAWAYO WEEKLY REPORT :

WEEK ENDING Friday 6th June 2008

It is evident that without the help coming through us to the retirement and nursing homes, most would have collapsed by now. The chairperson of [name of home deleted] has written a letter to this effect, which has been forwarded to you, and when I went to [name of home deleted] with their breakdown for this month and pointed out to the captain that we had doubled the requested contribution in anticipation of this month’s costs he shook his head in amazement and said it was an answer to prayer.

Individual requests for help continue to pour in: this week there were 10 people needing help with medication and two for rent.

A valuable meeting was held with a pastor’s wife, [name deleted]. The morale of staff at a nursing home is low and plans are afoot to implement as support group for them. Two members of her church have actually volunteered to help and will be well suited to this work. In addition her daughter was involved in an Adopt-a-granny project at school which has since fallen away. She would like to revive the project and has asked for names of five grannies to begin with. It is wonderful to see that people are still enthusiastic about helping others when just getting the most basic needs is a battle

....

[name of home deleted] held an emergency meeting because **** felt that the Home might have to close, due to the galloping inflation.
