An Appeal from Lord Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE
Dear Reader
You may think that conditions in Zimbabwe are improving. ZANE
does not concern itself with politics but the reality is that in all the
seven year long history of ZANE, the living conditions of WW2
Veterans (and others) trapped in Zimbabwe have never been so
appalling.
In the last six months:
• ZANE’s costs have risen by 400%
• Demand for ZANE’s services up 250%
• ZANE’s donations down 20%
The massive cost spiral, increased demand for our services and
drop in charitable income is seriously inhibiting ZANE’s ability to
continue to help vulnerable old people live out their final years with
some freedom from want and pain.
ZANE believes that pensioners in Zimbabwe are entitled to end their days with dignity.
Please understand that the ruination of the country is total. Even if a
new democratically elected government was allowed full scope to
rebuild – and I stress that this is not happening – it would take many
years to rebuild the country into even a shadow of its former self.
There are many pensioners in Zimbabwe Mary who face starvation. They have no
medical assistance, and they face a painful death because ZANE
cannot afford to help them all.
The cost of reasonable provision for a pensioner is £2,000 pa.
To meet its obligations ZANE needs to raise a further £300,000
immediately.
This is your chance to save a life.
Please make a New Year’s resolution for an urgent donation to
ZANE today. Please donate by clicking here.
Thank you
Michael Hastings
